Fredi Gomez continues as manager of the Atlanta Braves next season
The Cuban Fredi Gonzalez will remain manager of the Atlanta Braves next season. Gonzalez is signed through 2015 season. The Braves also announced that Bo Porter, exmanager of the Houston Astros, will relieve Doug Dascenzo as third base coach.
Gonzalez's future was in doubt after the Braves stayed out of the playoffs. General manager Frank Wren was fired after one week away of the end of the regular season.
It was believed that the Braves expect to hire a permanent general manager to decide the future of Gonzalez, but without a clear date for the announcement, the team decided to stand with the Cuban, who has led the Braves to a pair of postseason appearances and a title in the East Division of the National League during his four years as manager.
