Yangaline among Cuba’s Best Disabled Athletes
Sancti Spiritus judo athlete Yangaline Jiménez, winner of the bronze medal in the recent London 2012 Paralympic Games, was chosen one of the best 10 Cuban disabled athletes this year.He was the first local athlete to win a medal in this kind of sport event, and is the only one to have so far attended the Paralympics Games. This new medal adds to his previous two Panamerican titles, the latest won in Guadalajara, in 2011.
Jiménez, who is a member of the National Association of Blind and Low Vision People (ANCI, in Spanish), was also awarded a team gold medal in the 2006 World Championship, and a silver medal in the III World Games of the International Sport Association for Blind and Low Vision People.
The list of best 2012 Cuban disabled athletes is headed by several times Olympic winner Yunidis Castillo.
