Sancti Spiritus Baseball Team Benefits from Break
The “imposed” break in Sancti Spiritus calendar during the 51st Cuban baseball national season arrived with perfect timing for Roosters, a team with too much ups and downs in the tournament and a great number of injured players.
While Ruperto Zamora’s Roosters gather strength to fight for the fourth ticket to play off which certainly demands them to continue the winning path, recent news cannot be more encouraging.
Saturday witnessed the deep crisis in which current champions of the Cuban baseball, Pinar del Rio, are sunk in. The Tobacco Growers are Roosters followers in the standings but after their two defeats vs. Guantanamo Indians, they have gotten three games far from Roosters.
The Tsunami, Wolves, Lowlanders, as they are also known, have lost seven of the last ten games in the current season, as reported by Prensa Latina News Agency.
Other excellent news arrived from Industriales Lions being beaten twice by Camaguey, one of the weakest teams in the East region, so Roosters keep on closing in.
The team is to begin benefiting from injured arrivals, like the case of first baseman Yunier Mendoza, who will incorporate in the subseries to be held vs. Camaguey. The rest of the hurt players will integrate in the coming weeks.
