Leinier and Bruzon Must Win Tiebreak to Advance at Chess World Cup

In a long and exciting game that lasted 112 moves, Hungarian Grand Master Judit Polgar (Elo 2701) ‘The Iron Lady,’ playing black, defeated Cuban GM Leinier Domínguez (2710) to tie their match in the quarterfinals of the World Cup of Chess taking place in Khanty Mansiysk, Russia. GM Lázaro Bruzón (2682) managed to hold on to force a draw playing black against former world champion Ukrainian Ruslan Ponomariov (2764) to tie their match after 39 moves where Leinier responded using a Sicilian defense (Najdorf variant)
