Berlin.— Kenyan long-distance runner Patrick Makau set a new world record Sunday in two hours, three minutes and 38 seconds. The previous record was set in 2008 by Ethiopian Haile Gebrselassie, in 2:03.59. Unfortunately, he abandoned the run at kilometer 36 and saw his aspirations of taking part in the Olympic Games in London 2012 cut short.
